The idea is simple.
1,000 voices each giving $35 in honor of SC Appleseed’s 35 years of service to South Carolina, MATCHED dollar-for-dollar, will help raise new, critical support for our work on behalf of low-income South Carolinians….and help make South Carolina a place of opportunity and justice for all!
One voice at a time.
WHO WE ARE:
SC Appleseed is a forceful and respected advocate for low-income South Carolinians on issues such as housing, education, hunger, public benefits, domestic violence, immigration, health care and consumer issues. We are dedicated to effecting systemic change wherever we can do the most good - in and through the courthouse, legislature, administrative agencies, community and the media. In the 35 years since our founding, we have helped thousands keep food on the table, have a roof over their head, and an opportunity at a better life in our state.

THIS FUNDING WOULD:
• Support our current projects underway that serve low-income children, families, seniors, Veterans, and workers in South Carolina.
• Allow us to continue serving as experts on anti-poverty policy in the state;
• Enable us to be responsive and proactive when issues affecting low-income South Carolinians arise;
• Help us serve as a vital educational resource for community groups, administrative agencies, governmental entities, and other non-profit organizations;
• Empower us to explore new areas of policy for which we do not currently have dedicated funding.
35 YEARS AS A VOICE FOR THOSE IN NEED
The SC Appleseed team has helped to improve the lives and opportunities for the most vulnerable in our state; making South Carolina better for all of us. But with 1/3 of South Carolina residents living in high-poverty areas, 28% of our children living in food-insecure households, and 800,000 South Carolinians without health insurance, the work of SC Appleseed is now more critical than ever.

WOW! 72 voices have helped us raised over $4,500! We are so grateful. Did you know that Lawyers 4 Vets is one of the projects you are helping fund through this campaign? Yesterday, we received our 400th call for assistance to the Lawyers4Vets hotline after launching this pro bono legal clinic for low-income Veterans in May. There is truly so much need out there in the Veteran community in #SC. Today, we are holding our August clinic at the Dorn VA Medical Center and are so grateful for the volunteer attorneys who have stepped up to serve our Vets this month. But there's something else you need to know...Appleseed is doing this without ANY dedicated funding. No grants. No corporate backing. We saw a need that we could serve and we decided to make it happen.
This project needs to continue (as does our homelessness, education, healthcare and housing policy work...all of which have no major grant support). We fund these initiatives with donations from individuals and local businesses. We pull together small gifts to do big work. Thank you for helping making Lawyers 4 Vets and other great Appleseed work continue. It is making a difference.
One voice can change a life. 1,000 voices can change #SouthCarolina. Help us continue our fight for low-income children, families, seniors, Veterans, and workers in #SC for another 35 years! #1000Voices
