Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution is my first film. It has been very successful, being in 75+ film festivals and winning over 20 awards, but I still released it for free on YouTube in 2013 to influence as many people as possible around the world to support the Syrian revolution. The film has been seen by millions on television in 3 countries and also on two YouTube channels and The Guardian.
Why I made this film: In 2011 I fought in Libya as the only non-Libyan American to officially serve in the rebel forces. During the war I was wounded and captured, and spent nearly six months as a prisoner of war before escaping from prison and returning to combat on the front lines until we won the war.
In 2012, I went to Syria to make this film "Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution" to improve world opinion of the revolution. Nour Kelze (the star and a producer of the film) and I risked our lives to make this film, facing mortars, bombs, snipers, kidnapping, and the Syrian government calling me a terrorist on their State TV broadcasts.
I spent everything I had on making "Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution" and I borrowed money to finish it. I am now in debt. I need to raise $30,000 just to recover most of my expenses of making the film.
A portion of every donation will be used to benefit Syrian children when I return to Turkey/Syria in 2014.
