"Wish Upon A Toy" was founded in 2004 by Ryan & Ron Russek, a father/son duo who were battling life's worst fear, a father dying of cancer. While Ron was being treated at the City of Hope Cancer Hospital, Ryan saw that there were children spending their Christmas mornings in the hospital, knowing most of them would not live to see another Christmas. That year Ryan & Ron gave gifts to the children Christmas morning. 1 year later on December 25, 2005, Ron lost his battle with cancer, grief stricken, Ryan still gave the children gifts on Christmas morning. Since 2005 we have collected thousands of toys for the children of City of Hope. In 2009 we expanded to include the adult patients of the hospital! We started a "Toy Store" where adult patients can shop for free in our makeshift store for any child in their family! We even gift wrap! Many of them are experiencing times of great financial difficulty due to enormous medical bills, and the majority of them are not able to leave the protectiveness of the hospital due to incredibly weak immune systems. With the creation of the “Toy Store” these adult patients are able to experience the joy of shopping for their children and the happiness of watching their children open gifts Christmas morning. This year we need YOUR help more than ever! Some of our largest sponsors have chosen other Christmas charities to give to and we are in a great deal of need. Every dollar counts! Please help us make our goal! Thank
